Personally speaking, this is the product that I used when I had locs way back in 2014 when Chimere was my locitian. I was one of Chimere’s first Dr.Locs clients and I am so proud of how far she has come and the name she has started and continues to make for herself.
I consider Chimere a friend and it has been a pleasure to watch her blossom into the business women she is today. With that said I still offer my unbiased opinion on the Dr. Locs products and I believe that you will find them to be some of the best products for your locs on the market.
Okay, so on with the review.
I remember using this stuff and it is beyond good. It never made my locs feel heavy, it got rid of any itch I had and my scalp always felt so good afterwards. I didn’t know what kind of magic Chimere put in this stuff but it worked like nothing else I had ever used on my locs. And the scent? Oh man, the scent was to die for!
Then in 2020 a few years after I cut my locs off and began taking care of my coils on my own I had the pleasure of helping out in Chimere’s home-based warehouse and I can testify that all of the products are organic.
All of the products are also made in small batches to ensure quality. The batches are then hand-bottled and labeled. All of this was done by Chimere herself and a few other amazing people. You can tell that each product is made with love.
Plus, this all-natural anti-build-up solution is very easy to use. All you have to do is pour a little of the Dr. Locs’ Pre-Cleanse into your palm and massage it throughout your hair.
The pre-cleanse is used to pull up heavy flaking on the scalp. It should be used before shampooing. The Pre-Cleanse should also be used during times when the locking procedure prevents you from washing. This solution will pull up dirt, leaving the scalp feeling clean.Â
When wash your locs with Dr. Locs’ Yasin Shampoo. Your locs should be soaked very well before applying any shampoo. The company recommends washing locs at least 3 times to assure everything is clean (scalp, actual locs, and new growth). Then towel dry.Â
Afterward spray your locs, roots, and scalp with Dr. Locs’ Jinan Leave-In Conditioner. The Jinan Leave-In works great if sprayed during the grooming experience. After spraying, massage the conditioner into the scalp and new growth.Â
Then tighten up the new growth by twisting or interlocking your locs, using the Dr. Locs’ Imani Locking Spray on the new growth areas. The Locking Spray works great with the Jinan Leave-In Conditioner. After each loc use a metal clip to keep the loc in place. After grooming is finished, sit beneath a hood dryer to set. They should dry within around 40 minutes to an hour.Â
Finally, after hair is dry, pour Dr. Locs’ Yaya Oil in the palm of your hand and smooth on your fingertips. Massage the Yaya Oil onto your hair. Continue applying until your scalp is replenished, but not overly saturated. Take the rest of the oil and using your hands, smooth it up and down you’re locs for a polished look. And if you’re anything like me you’ll go crazy over how good your hair smells!
This product is truly amazing and it delivers as promised. It does not leave any buildup in the hair and it has a refreshing, light scent. I highly recommend it to anyone with locs! And I am not the only one who think Dr. Locs is the TRUTH!
